Situated close to Gibraltar and surrounded by countryside the old quarter of the town is declared a protected area of Historical Artistic Interest. Most popular with Home Buyers who want the atmosphere of Marbella, but the countryside of San Roque. 30 minutes to Marbella or 1 hour North and you will be in the Costa de la Luz which has a completely different lifestyle of Spain to offer.

This area is also famous for its Polo scene and attracts many visitors to the Golf Courses one of which was the home of the Ryder Cup in 1997. West of Marbella, the little town of San Pedro nestles on a broad strip of land sheltered by the rugged hills. It is not as well known as its neighbouring towns on the Costa del Sol but many expatriates have chosen this area to buy their property.
Much of the town lies inland behind the Coastal Highway. The nightlife here is less hectic than in Marbella or Puerto Banus, but its plus points include a well maintained Blue Flay Beach and its neatly kept old town centre lined with shops, cafes, orange trees and fountains make living here the best of both worlds.
Heading west Fuengirola is situated about 9 km along the coast from Benalmadena. A large beach sweeps along the front where in 1999 the promenade was refurbished. Its old town still maintains the many bars and restaurants that come alive in the evening. This resort has a Blue Flag for its clean Beach and Water. Very popular with residents. Property here is still at affordable prices.
Mijas stands 8 km away from Fuengirola. It is a typical Andalusian Village in the mountains. It is a very clean White Washed Village and although it is a focal point for tourists it also has a large proportion of foreign residents with its many amenities, bars, restaurants and shops this makes it an ideal place to live. Coming back to the coast it covers a large district with 12 km of beaches known as Costa Mijas.
Benalmadena
sits between Fuengirola and Torremolinos and boasts 9 kms of coast which
form one of the most important tourist resorts on the entire Costa del
Sol.
The municipality is divided into three very different areas. The village of Benalmadena, Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmadena Costa. The tiny but lively coastline with hotels, bars and leisure facilities makes this one of the most popular resorts.
All of its beaches have been awarded the European Community Blue Flag for its high standards.
The Costa del Sol really begins in Torremolinos, sitting 12 km. from Malaga and the Airport. The town stands at the western end of the Bay of Malaga in the foothills of the Sierra de Mijas. Like the rest of the coastline it enjoys a mild climate throughout the year, with its shops, bars, restaurants it is a great place to live having everything on your doorstep to entertain you.

miles (51 kilometres) away from Malaga Nerja is a bustling easy going
resort with a more informal feel than its neighbours on the Costa del
Sol.
Surrounding Nerja are Peach and Pomegranate Groves. This area has managed to avoid high-rise developments and most of its accommodation is situated in the pretty centre in the white washed villas in the hills.
This really is a beautiful area with breathtaking views, worth looking at the properties as they offer good value for money making them good investment material whilst the area still remains unspoilt.
